Professional Staff : Janet Pont, Director of Member Support Service

Janet has worked in all areas of Shaarey Zedek synagogue life for more than 50 years. She was most recently the Executive Director and before that, Membership Director, Director of the Beth Hayeled Nursery School and The Eugene and Marcia Applebaum Center for Jewish Living.

A native Detroiter, Janet graduated from Wayne State University and has a Masters Degree in Preschool and Parent Education. She and her husband, Herb, have been married for 51 years. Their children are Sheila and Eddie Pont, Nancy and Ira Goldberg, and Natalie and Michael Pont. They are blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren.

Janet loves to play piano and guitar, and finds interaction with the members and staff of Shaarey Zedek a source of genuine fulfillment and delight in her life.

Professional Staff : Tobye Bello, Program Director

Tobye Bello has been a member of CSZ for 25 years. As Program Director, she works with congregants to determine their interests, and creates and plans programs for all ages. Her programs include children’s concerts, Shabbat programming, Speaker series, Adult Education offerings, and Adult concerts and entertainment series.

Tobye attended Wayne State University, where she majored in Education. She holds an associate degree in Early Childhood and Human Development and Relationships. She began as a Kindergarten teacher at CSZ in 1983.. In 1988, she became the Religious School Administrator for 15 years. In 2003, she became the Program Director for the synagogue.

She and her husband, Mark, have four children, three of whom married at CSZ-- Tracye married to Stuart Schwartz; Jennifer married to David Geiringer, Jessica married to Eric Unatin, and Zachary. She also has two beautiful grandchildren, Jacob Geiringer and Micah Ethan Schwartz.

Professional Staff : Ron Miller, Controller

Ron has been with Shaarey Zedek for ten years, and serves on the Finance and Budget Committee and on the Endowment in his role as the congregation's Chief Financial Officer,

A CPA, Ron holds a BSBA in Accounting and Business Administration. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Michigan Association of CPAs.

Ron and his wife, Elaine, are parents to Cheryl (and husband Aaron), Debra, and Steven - all of them University of Michigan Wolverines.

Professional Staff : Keith Armbruster - Facilities Director

Keith Armbruster has been employed with the synagogue for more than 30 years. In his role as Facilities Director, he is responsible for the operation and maintenance all of the CSZ buildings. Keith works closely with the committees which plan the many and varied programs offered at CSZ. He is also responsible for the arrangements for all of the major holiday services at CSZ and is present to make certain the facilities and security run smoothly.


Keith has studied Climate Systems Technology and Building Operations and Management at both Oakland Community College and Henry Ford Community College. He currently serves as Vice President of the Metropolitan Detroit Building Superintendents' Association.

Professional Staff : Shelley Golsky, Program & Website Administrator

Shelley Golsky began working at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in 1994 as the administrative assistant to the Rabbi at the Bnai Israel Center and for the Applebaum Center for Jewish Living. In 1997 she began working solely in the Parenting Center, handling also the administrative work as well as helping with the various classes and programs. In 2004, Shelley joined the new Programming Department  and is currently the Program & Website Administrator.

Shelley attented  Oakland University, where she majored in Libral Arts. Prior to working at CSZ, She worked in the office equipment industry, installing, running and updating computer dispatch equipment at Selective Business Systems and at Cornelius Systems.

She has two children, Heather, who is going to Oakland Community College and Matthew, a Junior at Royal Oak High School.

Professional Staff : Arthur Holland, Communications Coordinator

Arthur has been Communications Coordinator for CSZ since the Fall of 2004. A graduate of The University of Michigan with a Bachelor Degree in General Studies, he brings over a decade of experience in graphic design, graphic arts and marketing to the position. Previously, he served in similar positions with Nissan at their Headquarters in Farmington Hills and with Morpace International in Dearborn and Farmington Hills.

Art is responsible for the conception and creation of marketing and information materials distributed by our synagogue, including direct mailings, advertising and the weekly Shabbat card. He works directly with the Programming Director, Clergy staff, and Board to oversee the production and schedule of Congregation Shaarey Zedek's Recorder.

Art has been married to his lovely wife, Susan (a Licensed Veterinary Technician with a specialty in Anesthesia), since June of 1999. His hobbies include many animal related activities including Dog Obedience training and being a member of the Michigan Ferret Adoption and Rescue Network (MFRAN), a 501c3 organization.
