Iran Atomic Chief Says Fuel Swap Talks Over
Iran refuses to discuss a nuclear fuel swap with world powers, Iran Atomic Energy Organisation chief Fereydoun Abbasi Davani said in an interview with the official IRNA news agency. “The United States is not a safe country with which we can negotiate a fuel swap or any other issue.” The fuel swap plan was floated by Western powers, who offered Iran the chance to swap its low-enriched 3.5 percent uranium for nuclear material purified up to 20 percent to fuel a Tehran medical research reactor. Abbasi Davani added that the Islamic Republic plans to complete its enrichment facilities at Natanz and Fordow in the next two years. “We have reached such a level of progress that they have to negotiate with us…” he said..
