Join our community rabbis, educators, and experts to learn together on various subjects related to the upcoming  Days of Awe. Enjoy two learning sessions, refreshments, and meaningful conversation.

Session I
Rabbi Aaron Bergman, Adat Shalom Synagogue: "Holding your head up and keeping your life together"- How the Psalm
for Elul can help heal your life.

Psalm 27, the Psalm we say beginning daily in Elul, does not mention the high holidays,
but its themes of finding a way to live meaningfully and courageously when the world feels like it is falling apart, makes it
perfect for the season.

Rabbi Shalom Kantor, Congregation Bnai Moshe: The Call of the Shofar: A Celebration of The New Year, A Wakeup Call, or The Cry of A Lost Soul…
The Shofar is one of the most anticipated elements of the Rosh HaShanah Services. It is such a visceral deep sound that it is able to pierce the most stubborn soul. Each year I hear it slightly differently because of where I am in my own life, what I am thinking about, and how I have prepared. In this session we will read some ancient, Hassidic, and modern texts helping us determine what the call will be for each of us as we listen to the Call of The Shofar.

Rabbi Blair Nosanwisch, Adat Shalom Synagogue: HaYom Harat Olam: Today is Pregnant with Eternity
Repeated throughout the shofar service on Rosh Hashanah, these three words, HaYom
Harat Olam, are rife with meaning. This deep dive into these words will enrich our understanding of Rosh Hashanah and the High Holiday season. Based on the teaching of Rabbi Gordon Tucker.

Rabbi Aaron Starr, Congregation Shaarey Zedek: The Israel Paradoxes: Of Power, Vulnerability, and Dreaming a Better Tomorrow
Join Rabbi Aaron Starr as we explore and confront some of the complexities of Israel in
its dual role as Promised Land and as modern-day democracy in one of the most difficult regions of the world.

Rabbi Jeff Stombaugh: The Well
Details to come

Session II

Tori Cohen and Rabbi Yoni Dahlen, Congregation Shaarey Zedek: Unsubscribe: Decluttering our physical and spiritual inboxes

Mushky Glitsenstein, Royal Oak Jewish Center - Chabad: The Fish of Tashlich gets lost in the water: Making the High Holidays not too “high” for our childrenDetails to come.

Rabbi Steven Rubenstein, Congregation Beth Ahm: Shouldn’t Yom Kippur Come Before Rosh Hashana?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to celebrate a big festival (Rosh Hashana) after we have sought and received forgiveness (Yom Kippur)? Join us in a conversation about the historical and spiritual reasons which explain why we celebrate Rosh Hashana and then embark on the process of self-examination culminating in Yom Kippur.

Rabbi Ariana Silverman, Downtown Synagogue: Waking Up to Despair, and ultimately to Hope
We are currently facing multiple national and international challenges. What are some sources of hope? Without trying to fix the problems or pretend they don't exist, we will focus on Jewish and secular sources that can give us strength as we try to build a better world.
