Kaddish: Text and Meaning with Rabbi Alex Braver

Berman Night of Learning welcomes Rabbi Alex Braver. Kaddish is one of the most well-known prayers in the Jewish tradition, and many – especially those who have said Kaddish for a parent or loved one – can recite it by heart. But its history and Aramaic text remain cryptic to many, even those who have recited it hundreds of times. Together we’ll explore some classical and modern takes on the meaning of this strange, transfixing prayer.

Rabbi Braver graduated from JTS in 2016 with rabbinic ordination, a Masters degree in Midrash and Scriptural Exegesis, a Certificate in Pastoral Care, and three years as a Rabbinic Fellow at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun. He currently serves as associate Rabbi at Congregation Tifereth Israel in Columbus, OH.
