Others are on Zoom. Please see the schedule below for times and links.

How do I know my e-ticket works?
Please don’t wait until Rosh Hashanah to test your user name and password. Click HERE to verify your access. Please note: Passwords are case-sensitive. Please save/bookmark that e-mail so you have it available for Rosh Hashanah, or print it and keep it with your Mahzor.

Where do we log in to the various services?
We have a complete schedule of services directly below, with links, and the latest, most updated schedule is available HERE. Help, I misplaced/deleted the e-mail with my e-ticket! What do I do?
We do have the ability to re-send your login and password if you’ve misplaced it. Call 248.357.5544, or e-mail egechter@shaareyzedek.org for assistance.

I’m still having trouble logging on. What do I do?
Call the Help Desk at 248.357.5544. We have people who will talk you through it.

Please note that the Help Desk will be available during the regular business day, as well as on the holidays:
• Kol Nidrei, September 27, 2020, 5:30 p.m. through the conclusion of services.
• Yom Kippur, September 28, 2020, 8:30 a.m. through the conclusion of services, and 5:30 p.m. through the conclusion of Minchah/N’ilah.

I have kids/family who are out of town who want access. Can I give them my password?
Sorry, no. Each password can only be used to log in to one device at a time. If you have college students or young adults ages 18-29, they can become CSZ Members for free, and receive their own passwords. Click HERE for the form. If you have guests and are requesting e-tickets, click HERE for that form. There is a $180 per family charge for non-member guests of CSZ Members, and a $350 charge for all other non-members.

We want to watch services on a larger screen than our tablet or laptop. Can we watch on our TV?
While that really isn’t our area of expertise, we have some suggestions HERE, or you can check the websites for the manufacturers of your specific equipment, or talk with specialists at retail or electronics shops about what you might need to do. Please make sure your devices are fully charged, plugged in, connected to WiFi and your login information is handy.

What about those who aren’t tech-savvy, or have no devices, or Internet access?
We hope you’ll step in to help parents, grandparents, neighbors and anyone you might know who does not work easily with technology. If you run into issues, our Help Desk will try to assist (see above for times). For those who do not have devices or Internet access, our Dial-in option allows anyone to access the audio of our services by phone. Thanks to our Babs and Herb Kaufman (z’l) “Listen-in” programcall 1.800.378.6135 and, when prompted for a log-in, press 27354986#.

I don’t have a Mahzor at home. Will you be sharing the text on the screen, as you do during Shabbat and Minyan?
No, we won’t be able to do that during these streaming services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, so we recommend that you purchase a personal copy of the Mahzor Lev ShalemHERE or at 248.357.5544.

Are there any in-person services or events?
Yes, we are cautiously and safely hosting a handful of experiences at the CSZ campus: for Rosh Hashanah – Poetry and Prose of the High Holy DaysThe Prayground Live! Family Service, Traveling Tashlich, and for Yom Kippur – N’ilah Under the Stars, a family event on the William Saulson Pavilion, under the tent. Of course, health safety protocols are in place for all attendees, including mandatory mask use and appropriate distancing. Advance registration for each experience is required.

What do you have for children and families?
We are excited to welcome families with children ages 0-7 to The Prayground (streaming on demand), and The Prayground Live! Family Service, an in-person experience at CSZ, featuring Rabbi Yoni Dahlen, Caitlin Klaper and Ari Reis.

For children ages 8 and older, we have Shirat Haruach (streaming on demand), a musical service with a camp vibe, featuring Rick Recht, Shira Kline, Rabbi Josh Warshawsky and Rabbi Yoni Dahlen. N’ilah Under the Stars is a participatory family event for all ages.

Test your access in advance of the holidays using the Access High Holy Days Services page to the right. If you have any questions or issues, please contact us at 248.357.5544.

RITUAL:

  • Please be sure to have – for you and for each member of the family – the High Holy Days prayer book, Mahzor Lev Shalem, for every service. Order copies at $36 each by calling the synagogue office at 248.357.5544, or use the form in the menu on the right side of this page.
  • It is customary on Yom Kippur to avoid wearing leather. Consider purchasing canvas shoes and a canvas belt, or this year, foregoing shoes and belts.
  • On Kol Nidre evening and for all morning services, please remember to wear your tallit (prayer shawl).
  • On Yom Kippur, please consider devoting the whole day to prayer and learning.
  • On Yom Kippur, while it is a mitzvah (commandment) to fast, it is a mitzvah NOT to fast if fasting threatens your health or inhibits your ability to take life-preserving medication.
  • Please consider taking an additional step in your Jewish journey this coming year, such as lighting Shabbat candles, having Shabbat dinner, blessing children or grandchildren, attending online minyan or Shabbat and holiday services, committing to volunteering more, increasing your charitable giving, and/or participating in more Jewish learning opportunities.
  • Please treat this year as you would any other year. Wear clothing that brings out the best in you. Avoid using your television, computer or phone for non-religious purposes. Seek to be spiritually present this year, and to create a sacred space – a sanctuary – in your home.

SAFETY AND SECURITY AT IN-PERSON EVENTS:

As we prepare for the High Holy Days, the safety and security of you and your family is of the upmost importance. We continue to update our Health and Safety and physical security protocols, but we need your help. To make your experience as pleasant as possible:

  • Please register for all in-person experiences in advance. Participation is limited, and health safety protocols are in place for everyone while on the CSZ campus, including mandatory mask use and appropriate physical distancing.
  • Please complete the MI Symptoms online process at http://misymptomapp.state.mi.us/ no more than 24 hours prior to the service.
  • Please do not attend in-person events at CSZ if you are feeling unwell, exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or if you are in a high-risk category.
  • Please check in at the Welcome Table, and have your temperature checked.
  • Please greet everyone warmly, as they are there to assist you, and to help keep our community safe.
  • Please turn off or silence your cell phones before you enter the building.
  • Please be flexible. We may have to make last-minute changes based on the prevailing circumstances.
