How will Services work?
This year, we are excited to be back together with the CSZ family for in-person services in our beautiful and inspiring Sanctuary, and on the William Saulson Pavilion for Youth and Family experiences. For those who cannot attend in person, we offer Live Streaming for our main services, and Zoom for some others. Please refer to the Services Schedule for links. Please note that Youth and Family events on the William Saulson Pavilion, including services and participation stations, are in-person only, and will not be offered online.

What do you have for children and families?
We are excited to welcome families with children ages 0-7 to The Prayground Live!, an in-person experience at CSZ, for children of all ages and their families.

Teens are invited to Teen Talks on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, in person.

Where’s my ticket?
Tickets to Members in Good Standing and our Guests, will be mailed in early August, based on the information we have on file for you. Please log in to your online Member account right now to verify that your information is current, so you receive your tickets. Once you are logged in, you can verify or update your address, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, the names of family members and more. You can also see your financial account, pay dues, make Tributes, and register children for Religious School. If you have questions or issues, please call 248.357.5544 for assistance.

Post-Pandemic Protocols
The pandemic landscape is constantly changing. Our procedures are guided by the latest medical science and we have engaged a specialized medical advisory group. We expect that unvaccinated participants (including children age 2 and older) will be required to wear masks and maintain physical distance while indoors. Members and guests will be advised as this develops.

I cannot attend services in person. How do I use my online access?
Your High Holy Days ticket also includes a link to join services through our Live Stream. Please don’t wait until Rosh Hashanah to test your connection. Click HERE to verify your access. Please save/bookmark that web page so you have it available for Rosh Hashanah, or print it and keep it with your Mahzor. Please make sure your devices are fully charged, plugged in, connected to WiFi and your login information is handy. Having trouble? Call us at 248.357.5544. We have people who will talk you through it.

Help, I misplaced my ticket, or did not receive it. What do I do?
Ticketing will continue through 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 3, 2021. Physical tickets requested after Friday, August 20, 2021 must be picked up in person at the CSZ administrative offices, or at will-call on Rosh Hashanah. For links or to have tickets re-printed, Call 248.357.5544, or e-mail egechter@shaareyzedek.org for assistance.

I have kids/family who are out of town who want access. Can I give them my digital links?
Sorry, no. Your personal link allows you access through your individual online Member Account. Anyone who isn’t a Member needs their own tickets and links. If you have college students or young adults ages 18-29, they can become CSZ Members for FREE, and receive their own tickets and links. Click HERE for the form. If you would like to share the CSZ experience with guests click HERE to request tickets/online access. There is a $180 charge for non-member guests of CSZ Members, and a $350 charge for all other non-members.

What about those who aren’t tech-savvy, or have no devices, or Internet access?
We hope you’ll step in to help parents, grandparents, neighbors and anyone you might know who does not work easily with technology. If you run into issues, our Help Desk will try to assist (see above for times). For those who do not have devices or Internet access, our Dial-in option allows anyone to access the audio of our services by phone. Thanks to our Babs and Herb Kaufman (z’l) “Listen-in” Programcall 1.800.378.6135 and, when prompted for a log-in, press 27354986#.

I don’t have a Mahzor at home. Will you be sharing the text on the screen, as you do during Shabbat and Minyan?
No, we won’t be able to do that during these streaming services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, so we recommend that you purchase a personal copy of the Mahzor Lev ShalemHERE or at 248.357.5544.

Access to Services Audio via Telephone
If you know someone who does not have access to a device capable of reaching the Internet, they can still listen in to these services. Thanks to our Babs and Herb Kaufman (z’l) “Listen in program, call 1.800.378.6135 and, when prompted for a log-in, press 27354986#.

  • Please be sure to have – for you and for each member of the family – the High Holy Days prayer book, Mahzor Lev Shalem, for every service. Order copies at $36 each by calling the synagogue office at 248.357.5544, or use the form in the menu on the right side of this page.
  • It is customary on Yom Kippur to avoid wearing leather shoes. Consider purchasing canvas shoes.
  • On Kol Nidre evening and for all morning services, please remember to wear your tallit (prayer shawl).
  • On Yom Kippur, please consider devoting the whole day to prayer and learning.
  • On Yom Kippur, while it is a mitzvah (commandment) to fast, it is a mitzvah NOT to fast if fasting threatens your health or inhibits your ability to take life-preserving medication.
  • Please consider taking an additional step in your Jewish journey this coming year, such as lighting Shabbat candles, having Shabbat dinner, blessing children or grandchildren, attending online minyan or Shabbat and holiday services, committing to volunteering more, increasing your charitable giving, and/or participating in more Jewish learning opportunities.
  • Please treat this year as you would any other year. Wear clothing that brings out the best in you. Avoid using your television, computer or phone for non-religious purposes. Seek to be spiritually present this year, and to create a sacred space – a sanctuary – in your home.

As we prepare for the High Holy Days, the safety and security of you and your family is of the upmost importance. We continue to update our Health and Safety and physical security protocols, but we need your help. To make your experience as pleasant as possible:

  • Please register for all in-person experiences in advance. Participation is limited, and health safety protocols are in place for everyone while on the CSZ campus, including mandatory mask use and appropriate physical distancing.
  • Please complete the MI Symptoms online process at http://misymptomapp.state.mi.us/ no more than 24 hours prior to the service.
  • Please do not attend in-person events at CSZ if you are feeling unwell, exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or if you are in a high-risk category.
  • Please check in at the Welcome Table, and have your temperature checked.
  • Please greet everyone warmly, as they are there to assist you, and to help keep our community safe.
  • Please turn off or silence your cell phones before you enter the building.
  • Please be flexible. We may have to make last-minute changes based on the prevailing circumstances.
