Shofchella: A Family Shofar and Holiday Festival

To welcome in New Year 5782, we’re going BIG!

CSZ hosts the community for a morning that will get the whole family singing, dancing and looking forward to the High Holy Days! Join us in person at the synagogue for an outdoor experience that includes a Shacharit service with our clergy, as well as music, youth engagement and the Shofar blast! Afterward, stay for lawn games and carnival activities. BYO picnic, blankets and/or lawn chairs, sun screen, and whatever outdoor gear you’ll need for comfort. Youth Tashlich

Join Morah Lindsay Mall to celebrate the Jewish Tradition of Tashlich at the Franklin Cider Mill! Tashlich is the fun and meaningful Rosh Hashanah ritual where we take breadcrumbs and toss them in to the water symbolizing our desire to change for a fresh new year.

There is no charge to join us at the water’s edge, but please click HERE to let us know you’re coming.

Parent/Child Pray and Play Space
Indoor space for free play for our youngest friends, with services streaming on a screen, so parents don’t miss a moment.

The Prayground Experiences for youth of all ages, and their families:
Rosh Hashanah Days 1 & 2, and Yom Kippur
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. under the tent on the Willam Saulson Pavilion

Don’t miss this outdoor experience where there will be something for all ages! Families, adults, kids, teens and more will catch the energy and enthusiasm of Rabbi Yoni Dahlen, Caitlin M G Klaper, Lindsay Mall and Neal Taibel as they get you singing, dancing, participating and welcoming the new year! 

Then move from experience to experience as you taste apples and honey, meditate, try soothing yoga, show off your drumming skills, and listen to stories. 🍎 🍏 🍯 🎶 💃 🥁 📖 🕍 🇮🇱

Dress comfortably for the weather (and for dancing and stretching!), and get ready for the best way to bring in 5782!

Teen Talks

On the North Lawn (Beit Midrash in case of weather)

Rosh Hashanah – Opening up About Opening Up. A young adult discussion about the challenges and victories of COVID-19 and and how they’ve changed us.

Yom Kippur – Mending Relationships. A young adult discussion about the concept of atonement, and how to heal relationships with friends, family, and community members. 

Teen Talks are led by Jamie Burnstein, an experienced child and adolescent psychologist at Behavioral Care Management, a home-based program designed to help clients and their families improve their mental health. Previously, Mr. Burnstein worked as both an educator at Temple Beth El and as a training supervisor at the Michigan school of professional psychology. He graduated from Michigan State University and MSP with a master’s degree in clinical psychology and lives in the Ferndale area.

N’ilah Under the Stars Family Service

Schmoozin’ in the Sukkah
