UPCOMING PASSOVER PROGRAMS

Through Parted Waters: Community Wide Pre-Passover Learning – Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.
Today’s Most Popular Israeli Music: Exploring the Themes of Passover.  Looking for some great new music to listen to while you prepare your home for Passover?  The Israeli music scene has been going through a renaissance over the past decade.  Many of the most popular Israeli artists today are observant Jews and their music reflects their embrace of religion, text and tradition.  Join Rebecca Starr as we listen to and analyze the work of some of these Israeli musicians and look for the familiar themes of Passover like redemption, exile, freedom and remembrance.

Siyyum B’Chorim – Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 7:30 a.m. in the Bernstein Chapel
On the principle that fasting is prohibited on a joyous occasion, Judaism allows for anyone who attends a religious feast to forego fasting. It is customary to hold a celebratory meal on the completion of study of a tractate of Talmud, called a siyyum (conclusion). Rabbis initiated the practice of studying a portion of a Talmud tractate after morning services, held especially early on Erev Pesach. All firstborn are invited to be present for the conclusion, and share a seudal mitzvah (meal in honor of a commandment; in this case, studying the Torah).

Family Shabbat Experiences – Passover EditionSaturday, April 8, 2023 – 10:30 a.m. Chol HaMoed Pesach
