Congregation Shaarey Zedek Religious School is committed to strengthening our congregational family and sacred community by deepening within its families a love of being Jewish, and by teaching children and parents alike the skills and knowledge necessary to live a meaningful Conservative Jewish life.
Our classes are exciting, safe and loving environments aimed at making Judaism meaningful, accessible, and spiritual for the children of the Shaarey Zedek family. We want their religious school experience to be joyful and for our children to view Shaarey Zedek as home. Shaarey Zedek promotes and encourages the family’s interest and participation in classroom and holiday celebrations. Ultimately, it is our vision that the school and home partnership become the integrated foundation for each child by fostering a strong sense of Jewish identity.
Every week at the Congregation Shaarey Zedek Religious School, our learners explore Hebrew, tefillah, choose exciting chugim (electives) such as challah baking or Israeli art, navigate our sacred text, and interact with our clergy.
Jewish Family Experiences take place monthly for our Religious School families. The Jewish Family Experiences in any given age group include celebrations of Shabbat and holidays, opportunities to do community service work outside of CSZ, or field trips relevant to their learning projects.
At Shaarey Zedek every child has the opportunity to learn and play in our state-of-the-art facility, The Berman Center for Jewish Education. We recognize that each child is unique and is therefore encouraged to grow to his/her potential through nurturing and challenging experiences. Our program strives to support, stimulate, and guide the growth of the child in each of the following developmental areas: emotional, social, physical, creative, cognitive, and spiritual.
